Cover Reveal – Lord Regent

What do you think?

I may still tweak. Won't be publishing for several weeks, since I'll publish LR with its sequel... which is going into edit next week.

By the way...did I miss anyone interested in beta reading?

If so...drop me a note and I'll send you a Kindle copy.

Have a great week.

Sunday Safari – Boyd Hill Nature Preserve – St. Pete, FL

Was the perfect day for hiking here today, with Tropical Storm Isaac skimming Florida…overcast and windy, made it cooler, and kept the skeeters off a bit. Trekked across the bay, into St. Pete. Enjoyed Boyd Hill a lot. I recommend it. Hope you like today's pictures.

A little guy...snout was only about 4" long
 See him peeking out, below?

Have a great week. (If you would like to receive a link in the mail every Sunday...drop me a note)

Beta-Readers—Cover Decision Time—Blurb

Calling for Beta Readers
I'm nearing the end of edit for my other-world fantasy. Anyone interested in beta reading, please drop me a note.

Here is the draft blurb (thoughts, anyone?)
Justen is a royal, an outsider, single-born in a world of twins, one always male, one female, who share a telepathic connection. Ostracized for being different, half a soul, a single consciousness, he struggles for acceptance.
A force grips him, an anger that presses him to develop the clarity that comes natural to twins.
When the king disregards succession and names the seventeen-year-old regent, Justen's survival depends upon mastering his emerging, arcane powers, and consolidating support, while facing threat of rebellion, assassination, and foreign encroachment.

I will be publishing Lord Regent and its sequel together…but like to have the covers for a series done early. Here are some early mock ups. Any thought?

Shout-Out for a Favorite Indie Author

When you find an author's voice you love, it is a precious thing. For traditional authors, for me that is James Butcher, Robert B. Parker, Carrie Vaughn, and Janet Evanovich…an eclectic bunch to be sure.

I have a small number of Indies I love too, C.L. Bevill, J.C. Phelps, Claire Farrell, Lin Welch, and the lady I shout out today…India Drummond.

I fell in love with India's voice in her first novel I read, and ORDINARY ANGELS propelled her skyward in my reckoning. OA is a pleasant read, in that you relax and follow her colorful and lovely characters without the anxiety you tread forward with in a James Butcher novel, say. India excels with her characters, which is what I read for.

I loved Zoe. I pictured her as a cross between the medium on BEING HUMAN and Penny of BIG BANG THEORY. Inhibited (okay…that isn't Penny), not incredibly socially astute, sweet, caring, with sex appeal enough to stop a male rhino in his tracks. Not a five star plot buster…but even better for me…a smooth read throughout, without a single scene you find yourself scanning over. Kudos, from a writer who is very hard to please.

Go check out India's novels. If characters are important to you…she will become one of your favorite Indies too.

Find her on AmazonBarnes and Nobles…or her site.

Have a great week.

Today's Favorite Pasage

"What do you have for me there?" he asked, changing the subject, pointing to her ration bag. He tossed away the rough end of the fruit he had been gnawing at.
"The store is open. We have jerked venison, dried fruit, jerked venison, dried fruit, and look here." She smiled broadly, holding up the remnants of a round of cheese—one of the delicacies they started the journey with. She tossed the chunk over to him.
"Ahh, the benefits of rank."
"For having a generous secretary don't you mean, m'Lord?"
Justen cleaved the rind with his dagger. Jabbing one half, he held it out to Clarisa. She accepted with a dramatic bow and sat next to him. A tad too close. Their auras clashed for a moment making Justen's skin tingle. He raised the power within his aegis, but her emotion continued to bleed into his own. She said nothing. Was this a tease? She had to sense the energy spreading between them. He shifted his thoughts to Maria, then to the emerald eyes of Atael, before returning to the image of Clarisa, bare above the waist, in the training pit.

PIX Sunday Safari – Desoto Park, McKay Bay

I was asked why no pups lately. It's been too hot. And then all week I was wanting to take a pup…so Molly and I two-wheeled it on the Wing. Yep. It was too hot for her, even though she got several wades in. I thought she was gonna fall over, the poor thing. She's gettin' too old for long hikes anyway.

Hope you enjoy the pix.
We were wanting to sit under this fountain by the time we were done

This is a recycle material power plant we hiked around...I just thought it was a cool picture

Eerie...a city popping out of the swamp
Yep...Molly was hot...and tired

Since Moll got a baff...the other two did too. And it wasn't even Saturday night)

Have a great week.
