Snapshots - Hiking the Withlacoochie River Wilderness Park

Greetings from the Hermit Writer. [Balance is reading a book at night, hiking in the morning]

This park has everything!

And nice trails.

I love how oaks swirl around looking for sun.

Another glimpse of wild life. He'd had a hard life. Something had chewed on him. Poor guy. (I'm not showing his wound...I don't do things like that)

It's hard living in Florida.

I love it here, but I like a comfortable bed at the end of the hike.

A lookout tower...with great scenery.

Met these gents form New Port Richie. Say, Hi, y'all.

The clouds made for great panoramas.

And over here. (I'm not through)

Snaps - More from the Withlachoochie

Greetings from the Hermit Writer. Enjoying that 87 degree cool, winter weather at the Withlacoochie.

More tree hugging.

The sun was getting masked by clouds, but the glow still works here.

Artsy river shot.

Not so artsy shot. Oh, sun, come back out.

Does this look like something from the SyFy channel to you, too?

From Mac the tree hugger.

A glimpse of wild life.

This park hasn't burned in years, but here's a derelict of a burn. Love the colors.

And a bit more.

Snapshots - Ala Florida

Greetings from the Hermit Writer. You may have noticed the change in photo styles, from street photography to nature. Well it finally cooled down in December and this old man is able to do some hiking without ending up in the hospital. (We had a brutal summer...plus the deluges swamped the parks anyway.) So prepare for a series of Florida starting with the Withlacoochie River State Park. A really well kept secret. Y'all locals, need to visit this park. Great, leisurely hiking.

Important to note the high water mark...this past July most of this park was under water.

This is a water-locus. Those thorns are killers.

I snapped this limb stub because in the shadows it looked like a sheep's head. Post processing...I just loved the lichen color and texture of the oak.

Snaps - Neighbors Jacob and Oso

Greetings from the Hermit Writer.

Almost a mirror reflection...except for the plumbing. This is Jacob on the left, my Sissy on the right.

Oso is a cutie, but one of those Heinz 57 you go...'Uh, what is he?'

But after the butt smelling, all is good.

Jacob was like, 'Whoa, Lucy's big.'

But he and Sissy ran all over the place.

I'm not good with action shots...so clicked when they took a breather.

Really neat shot of Jacob, I think.

Snaps - More Florida Ambiance

Greetings from the Hermit Writer.

Some last shots from Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park.

Never know...this way...

...or this way?

Always look up from the trail now and then.

I do love trees.

God and Mother ensure we have lots of cute critters around, huh?

'Merry, woof, woof, Christmas.'
