Pix – Hillsborough River ST Park

Had a really nice hike this morning. This may be my favorite, local park. The skeeters were awful, close to the river, but hey…this is Florida. Hope you enjoy

Have a great week.

Cover—Your Kneejerk Reaction?

I like to have cover ideas simmering while I edit. Any thoughts…anyone…anyone?

Beta Read, Anyone? Otherworld Fantasy

I'm editing a work I started over twenty years ago.

The perfect beta reader would be a fan of Katerine Kurtz' Deyrni series, since Lord Regent contains many of the same elements of clairvoyance, telepathy and empathy, without the heavy historical base.

I'm still debating if I will publish…because the key element of the plot entails a world of twins which complicates the names of the characters. As an example, key characters known collectively as Clar—Claren and Clarisa.

The similar names and number of characters may make the novel heavier to read than most readers would enjoy.

So the main feedback I'm looking for…Do the names turn you off?

Let me know if you're interested. I will provide in rough, Kindle or Nook formats.

Pix-Sunday Safari - Weedon Island State Preserve

Holy-moley, it was hot out there this morning…walking inside the mangroves with no breeze. Coming to a stand-still to take a pix meant letting the skeeters catch up to me. Arghhh (and yes, I sprayed on some anti-blood-sucking-carcinogen). Nice park…but I’m not going back in the summer.

The boardwalk was covered with these little crabs

May look like seed pods, but these things become mangrove 'roots'

 I loved the lookout...only place I got a breeze

That's downtown St. Pete, FL off in the distance

 Oh...he's so pretty

 Him too
Was someone nipping the juice when they were building this boardwalk?

I wonder how the skeeters were out there. Bet they had a breeze.

For da Yankees out there...that is Spanish Moss in the foreground

Have a great week.

Reader Personalities (SPAC)

I can’t please everyone all the time. (News Alert!) Some people I'll never please. And maybe I shouldn’t try to.

I once taught communication skills…used the four-quadrant personality style matrix (Driver-Analytical-Expressive-Amiable) to explain why some people can’t sit in the same room.

We are different. (News Alert!) I’m a Driver personality. We drive the Expressive out of their mind.

I just cross-beta read with a wonderful lady I respect. She is what I call a Setting personality. She likes description, and enjoys the story’s universe defined for her.

That would drive me nuts. I like hints, and let my imagination unfurl. Instead, I’m a strong Character type, heavily edged onto the premises of the Action personality.

Is it bad to write strongly in one style?

Possibly. Balance might be nice.

But then I doubt I’d ever hit it out of the park for anyone if I did. I think I’d prefer to write for a particular reader. To wow ‘em.

Have a great day.
