Sarah Waters -- Pace

Pace is crucial. Fine writing isn't enough.

Writing students can be great at producing a single page of well-crafted prose; what they sometimes lack is the ability to take the reader on a journey, with all the changes of terrain, speed and mood that a long journey involves.

Write Every Day!

  1. Hi Mac & Molly,
Yep! this is true. It's really hard to accomplish this especially in flash fiction. The characters have to be well-developed as well as the dialogue to move the story along.

  2. Very true. Slow pacing up front can kill a book.
